Over 20% of the world’s population has allergies, and the percentage is growing. Ocular allergies – known for itching, redness, watery eyes and swelling of the eyes and eyelids – are irritating and common. Like most other allergens, Ocular allergies tends to be airborne.

These allergies are oftentime accompanied by nasal irritation. Because the eyes and nose are so closely linked by the tear ducts, irritants that enter the eye cavity flow down to the nose, causing a runny nose, sneezing and congestion.

Depending on severity, treatment options will vary. During your appointment, we will determine whether eye drops or a prescribed medication will be needed.
